If you have a family trip coming up, these fall road trip snack ideas are great options for keeping your kids fueled and tummies full for any long trips you might be taking.
Fall Road Trip Snack Ideas:
When I'm planning snacks for my kids I like to have a fun mix of healthier items and fun snack foods mixed together. We really practice intuitive eating in our home and try not to weigh foods as "good" or "bad." So, I enjoy purchasing my kids fun seasonal snack items to provide that balance in our home.
Storing Snacks for A Road Trip:
I recently purchased this snack container on Amazon for less than $8, and it has been one of the best purchases I made this year. I love the overall look and design, the fact that it has compartments for 8 different snacks, and the fact that the little sections can be removed and cleaned easily in the dishwasher.
The lid has a snap-shut mechanism, so if it tips over in the car all the snacks won't go anywhere. If you're bringing a small cooler in the car with you, you could easily slide it into the cooler to keep things like meat and cheese cold, but you could also just pack it with non-perishables and that would be great too.
8 Fall Snack Ideas for a Family Road Trip:
- Veggie Straw Ghosts: Our kids have loved Veggie Straws since they were toddlers, so when I saw these Ghosts for Halloween I knew I had to get them.
- Halloween Oreos: These have become a bit of a fall tradition in our home. They're so fun and festive, and they're a treat the kids really look forward to each year.
- Pumpkin Donut Holes: I'm a sucker for all things pumpkin baked goods. These donut holes fit perfectly in this snack tray. You could even use my recipe to make these homemade.
- Apples: A great seasonal fall fruit choice, but also one my kids love any time of year. We love Pink Lady the best.
- Grapes: Another great seasonal item that my family loves. If you have young kids, be sure to cut them into smaller pieces to avoid choking.
- Cheese: We just cut up some string cheese to make them fit into our container, but I love the rectangle Tillamook snack cheese as well.
- Pepperoni: In my opinion, pepperoni just slaps. I prefer purchasing the full log at the store and then cutting it up at home, but the already-sliced version obviously works well too.
- Carrots: They're orange, great for fall, and super cheap. An easy win-win.
