Teepee dirt cups are the perfect quick and easy cute Thanksgiving treat to make with kids this fall season. All you need is some pudding, cookie crumbs, and ice cream cones to make these festive treat.
In keeping with the theme of all things Thanksgiving this week, I'm back with another cute Thanksgiving treat idea. These Teepee dirt cups would be a great activity to make with your children before Thanksgiving where you can teach your kids the true meaning behind Thanksgiving, how the Native Americans lived, and what their lives really looked like. I recommend accompanying this treat with one of the historically accurate books on my Thanksgiving book list.
Teepee Dirt Cups
These teepee dirt cups are a fun activity to share with kids during this late fall season. Kids will love helping to stir the instant pudding together, crushing the cookie crumbs, and dipping the ice cream cones into the sprinkles. It's a super easy, fun, and hands on activity for kids during Thanksgiving.
What You Need to Make Teepee Dirt Cups
To make these teepee dirt cups you will need chocolate chips, orange sprinkles, waffle ice cream cones, instant chocolate pudding, and and Oreo crumbs. You will also need some small see through plastic cups. You could also buy already made pudding in individual snack packs which would save you the step of making pudding and having to purchase additional cups.
How to Make Teepee Dirt Cups
To make these teepee dirt cups you're going to start by melting your chocolate in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between each one to make sure your chocolate doesn't burn. Repeat this until your chocolate is melted all the way through and smooth.
When your chocolate is melted you're going to dip the top and bottom of your waffle cone into the melted chocolate, and then into your orange sprinkles. Set your cones aside on some wax paper until the chocolate has set.
While you're waiting for your chocolate to set, put some Oreos in a bag and smash them with a rolling pin to create crumbs, or the "dirt" for these cups! You can also prepare your pudding at this time. my box required that we mix the powder with milk and stir, and then wait five minutes for it to set all the way. It was super fast and easy.
Once your ingredients are prepared you can now layer your pudding cups. Take a clear plastic cup and pour about 1/2 cup of pudding into each of your cups. Then you'll sprinkle in some of your Oreo crumbs for the dirt, and place your waffle cone on top, with the pointed side facing up towards the ceiling.
Activities to Do While Eating Teepee Pudding Cups
If you're wanting to make this a full learning experience about the Native people, you could also incorporate some fun activities to accompany this snack. You could start with reading a historically accurate book about Native people, color some Thanksgiving coloring pages, and even watch a fun Thanksgiving movie!
