Jay had never fed ducks before, so he didn't know that most people throw the bread, instead he let the ducks eat the bread right out of his hand from the get-go. It was so funny to watch! I was shocked by how brave he was, but then remembered that it mostly stemmed from the fact that he didn't know any better.
Em loved hanging out on Derek's side and tossing the bread as far as she could throw. She kind of has a thing for chucking items that she's not supposed to, so an activity that meant she was allowed to throw things? She was all in.
This really was such a fun little outing for us for Family Home Evening. The ducks at the Layton Duck Pond were actually really chill. You could walk right through the huge groups of them, and they never tried to attack, bite, or anything. The Layton Commons Park is massive, and has huge open fields, amphitheaters, and a playground. When we got in the car, Jay was already asking when we could go back.
If you're interested in heading there with your family, you can find Layton Commons Park at 437 N Wasatch Dr, Layton 84041. The duck pond is on the south side of the park, opposite of the playground.
Spent years at that park. I remember walking and having my maternity photos there. Love that park. So that's cool u are in layton now. Lived there for 5 years. We may move back.
ReplyDeleteSo fun that you have all of those memories here! We've really been loving it here so far!
DeleteSounds like a great outing; however, please google "why you shouldn't feed ducks bread." Thanks so much for your fun blog and congrats on your move.
ReplyDeleteJust googled! I never would have known that! Luckily we inherited a large garden of Kale at our new house, so we can feed them that next time ;)
