Last night my friend Emily and I got together to put the finishing touches on a baby blessing dress I was sewing for baby sister to wear in just a few weeks! When I found out I was having a girl I was originally planning on her wearing the dress that I wore when I was a baby, but then I had the awesome idea to sew one out of the fabric from my wedding dress. I love how it all turned out and I can't wait to actually see our little girl in it!
To make the dress I used this tutorial from Sew Much Ado. I was surprised at how easy it was to follow, and it made a great base for the dress to be added to. The lace overlay and decorative beading I found at Joann's. I thought they were the perfect addition to make such a plain dress a lot more formal. The picture of the dress might look a little awkward with the lace being a lot longer than the actual dress but I promise it looks a lot better in person. Somethings are hard to capture in just a picture, right?

ReplyDeleteAdorable, Paige!! I'm impressed. How did you feel cutting into your wedding dress? I don't think I could bring myself to it. At least not for twenty years. haha
